Trauma Informed Schools UK (TISUK)

Orchard Mead is a trauma informed school.  A trauma informed approach is underpinned by the importance of strong, stable, nurturing relationships. Through relationships we can help a child to understand their feelings and help them to manage these appropriately.  The key elements for successful relationships, as defined by TISUK, are: Protect, Relate, Regulate and Reflect which altogether build a person’s resilience.

All staff have completed training provided by Trauma Informed Schools UK.   In addition, we also have 9 fully qualified TISUK Practioners.  These staff have completed 10 days of training, leading to a qualification and practioner status.  Practioners are particularly well placed to support children when their lives are most challenging and difficult, and we are very grateful to have this additional expertise within our pastoral and safeguarding teams.
