Reading at OMA

The aim of our approach to reading at Orchard Mead Academy is to ensure that all our students are able to read at an age- appropriate level or higher. We work to achieve this by focusing on supporting students who are not yet reading at an age- appropriate level with the right one to one and small group interventions to catch them up. We know the crucial importance of reading and helping our students to access their subjects.  Our approach to reading is designed to support students’ progress across the curriculum and outside the classroom to cultivate students who are confident interpreters and communicators in the modern world.
